I think it's time for somebody to buy me an iMac so it doesn't take an hour to edit a fucking RAW image.

Zombie Alex goes in for the kill

Eleven people dressed up like zombies and walked around through Oakland while the helpless living could only gawk in horror and disbelief. View the rest of their adventures here These were all taken with my new camera, which turned out to be everything I could have hoped for. Some of the indoor shots are blurry, but I'll just have to keep working on my technique.

This is The The Day

Today is the day. My camera will arrive. I won't get to play with it until later tonight, but that's okay. I'm not sure if the memory card will be here--damn USPS tracking service--but I can still connect it to my laptop and take pictures directly to the hard drive. First I will probably take pictures of everything I see: my foot, a doorknob, poop. You can be sure that they'll show up on my Flickr page. Soon.

Waiting for my welfare check

Yesterday Alex gave me a book called Time for Joy: Daily Affirmations. Today I made sure to look at the day's affirmation:
Today I will do something very special just for me. I will treat myself to something I want to have or do and feel good about myself while I do it.  My life is very important to me and I have the right to be happy.
So I did. I made an online payment to my credit card, and then used it to purchase a Canon Rebel XTi (and a 2gb memory card). This decision may be seen as hasty, but I felt good doing it. My credit limit has essentially been reached, and I will probably be spending the next four to six months paying it off. I originally wanted the XTi as a Christmas present; now my present will be money for a credit card payment. My parents don't know about this yet. Fortunately they don't read this website so they won't know about it until it arrives. That will buy me some time, but not much. I'm also getting paid this Friday--the entire check will go toward my bill. I know it seems like I'm justifying my ability to afford this camera, because that's exactly what I'm trying to do. I am happy. P.S. Did you hear about the sequel to The Butterfly Effect? I would have added this to my order, but I don't think it's worth putting myself into a much lower socioeconomic status over.
