Film: September 2006 Archives
I want to start a film publication. I decided this while I was reading about Cahiers du Cinéma and some other French filmmakers. My train of thought then drifted toward visions of a site that would review dozens or hundreds of movies, both studio and independent, with a dozen content contributors and hundreds of thousands of readers. The site would have a tremendously chic layout, and reviews would range from titles I've never heard of, to major box-office Hollywood trash. Our publication would be highly esteemed in the world of film critique, and our articles--while maintaining their acerbic wit and humor--would break down the art form objectively and knowledgeably.
Perhaps later on we could sell nice-looking t-shirts and put out a bimonthly or annual print publication to subscribers, featuring a "best-of" anthology for the previous months/year. Listen, the idea is fabulous. I want to get the word out. I want American independent cinema to have a chance. I want you to stop reading and look at the dancing panda.
