Don’t read this unless you’re a nerd
Tonight my World of Warcraft account was compromised. This means somebody changed my password and took all of my mage's armor and gold. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the hacker made a dwarf named "Woopwoop" on a different server.
It could have been worse, though. Today a coworker was telling me how he got hacked last night. His password was changed, several characters were deleted, items were sold, and 8 of his characters were transferred to other servers and accounts. The transfers total to $200 on his next billing statement.
What a glorious time. Apparently Blizzard has been having more problems with hacking recently--at least their account security page says so.
This is nothing I'll lose sleep over. I know people who have been hacked in the past, and Blizzard was able to recover all of their items. It's just a huge inconvenience and makes you want to squash the wormy little hacking fucktard who caused all this trouble in the first place.
The moral is: don't play World of Warcraft. Go outside or drink whiskey instead.
